Lost Civilization was the largest project I had led up to that point, and it was a source of immense enjoyment to plan, design, and build the map. In addition to creating the level design almost completely by myself, I also took charge of the skin textures, concept, organization, and played a role in the marketing efforts. I am happy hat the map is now available on the Minecraft Marketplace, representing a significant milestone in my career.
My main objective in designing this map was to immerse the player in a Post-Apocalyptic world, evoking the feeling of walking through abandoned city streets. To achieve this, I created a variety of assets such as broken cars, trees sprouting from destroyed warehouses, and graffiti slowly being overtaken by nature. The choice of colors also adds interest to the map, with key points of interest like the main loot building standing out with more vibrant colors than the rest. Outside the city, I used eye-catching colors to draw the player's attention to important areas, such as a yellow transport vehicle that serves as a focal point. To guide the player towards hidden paths and loot, I incorporated visual cues like colored tarps or red banners on buildings, creating a sense of discovery and exploration for the player.
